“They transferred me to Bergan for delivery. They have not started the induction yet. It’s going to be a different birth than what I was expecting….would you still be able to hopefully capture the birth?”
Only twelve hours earlier I had learned Kim had been admitted and was being monitored for preclampsia! She wasn’t due until the 14th of September but here she was, six weeks early headed from the birth center to the hospital to deliver her baby. As a mom of preemies, my heart broke for her, it isn’t something anyone wishes for their birth plan!
I arrived to Kim’s room Saturday morning to find a calm, collected mamma surrounded by so much support…her husband, mom, and doula were all there to take care of her every need.
As she labored, Kim was able to facetime with her older kids at home, visit with her dad, and even rest while she waited for baby Karson to make his appearance. Seriously…this lady was so patient and calm even as the day went on…she trusted her body and medical team (who were outstanding).
I mean…how can you be so stunning and collected while expecting your baby early, this lady is truly amazing!
Even though it wasn’t the birth that Kim planned and hoped for, the medical team did as much as they could to follow Kim’s original birth desires even considering the situation. It was a beautiful and emotional birth!
Karson did go to the NICU…being six weeks early he did need a little oxygen help and time to grow. He is such a precious baby boy and I was honored to capture his birth story.
Karson is now home from the hospital and has just passed his due date! Thankyou Kim and Kurt for allowing me to document his birth. If you would like your birth story documented please send me an email!
